Red and Green

We got the garden in a few weeks late this year but harvest is looking up. Patty did a great job. We’ve been munching on cucumbers in our salads and brought in the shelling peas today. Unfortunately, we lost all our broccoli to the groundhogs so I bought 5lb at the farmers’ market yesterday. We’ll just have to buy more and freeze what we can. Fruit wise, we’ve got 2 qts of raspberries so far to go with the 10 qts of strawberries we picked at Stevenson’s. Oh, wait, 9 qts. Just got one out to thaw!

The pear tree, grape vines, and hardy kiwis are abundant this year! Hopefully, we’ll have some to sell by the road if you make it over this way.

Patty loved taking pictures of the peas this morning:

Wheel barrow full of shelling pea plants. Patty planted one row, we think 80 plants.

Gotta get them pea pods off the vine!

It was already 80 degrees this morning when we pulled the peas so we sat in the barn with the dog, a cat, and couple of chickens.

Mm...not so much peas.
