Homemade Dishwasher Soap

As homesteaders, we try to save money and cut down on our chemical usage. To that end, we found a recipe for dishwasher soap that I thought I’d share with you. If you made the laundry soap, you already have two of the ingredients. We only have two issues, finding the citric acid and the powder hardens into a big soft rock. We’re scrapping it with a butter knife and looking for another recipe. The citric acid can be found with the canning supplies at your local hardware or farm store. Other than that, it works great. Let us know if you have an idea on keeping this powder or any other great, sustainable recipe.

Dishwasher soap recipe
1 cup borax
1 cup washing soda
1/2 cup citric acid
1/2 cup kosher salt

Use as you would your regular dishwasher powder.
Fill rinse agent compartment with white vinegar to prevent spotting.

      1. I have plenty of citric acid right now but will let you know when I’m ready for some more because I would be interested in bulk buying it. :)
